Our Sensory & Play Space has been thoughtfully designed to support both children and adults with additional support needs, offering a safe, welcoming environment where everyone can explore, relax, and thrive in their own way.

Every booking now includes exclusive access to our brand‑new guide, Create Your Own Oasis — a practical, easy‑to‑use resource co‑produced with students from the University of Sunderland and underpinned by excellent Occupational Therapy principles.
This guide helps you get the most out of your visit, with activity ideas, sensory strategies, and tips for using our equipment confidently and creatively.

The Discovery Den

The Discovery Den is a vibrant, interactive sensory room designed to spark curiosity and support sensory exploration.

Here’s what you can enjoy inside:

Immersive projection that transforms the walls with colours and scenes of your choice
A shimmering disco ball scattering twinkling lights across the room
A soft, glowing cloud light that shifts and shines overhead
Textured wall panels for tactile exploration
A bright LED light tube perfect for hands‑on, focused play

Whether you’re looking to calm overstimulated senses or encourage purposeful sensory engagement, the Discovery Den offers a joyful, adaptable space for all ages and abilities.

The Glow and Grow Room

The Glow and Grow Room provides a calming, immersive experience using UV lighting, gentle movement, soothing sounds, and a variety of textures.

Inside this peaceful space, you can:

Change the colours on the Mood Table to match your vibe
Relax in our comfortable egg chairs with a selection of calming books
Explore UV outfits and watch colours glow and transform under the lights

This room is ideal for unwinding, exploring sensory input at your own pace, or enjoying a quiet retreat away from the busyness of everyday life.

We recommend an absolute maximum of 15 children at anyone time. However, those attending will benefit from fewer attending
You will have access to the reception / seating area and are welcome to enjoy our range of light refreshments, but you will not have exclusivity to this space. Whilst it may be rare, there may be others accessing the reception area to check in to the pool at the same time

If you wish to book the Sensory / Quiet / Play Spaces WITH the Hydropool at the same time:

You will need to call our office on 01429 812950 / 812953 to do so.
We recommend an absolute maximum of 15 children at anyone time. However, those attending will benefit from fewer attending
You must not have more than 8 children in the pool at anyone time. They must also be supervised by a responsible adult and our main Terms and Conditions of using the Hydropool will still apply (https://www.familiesfirstne.co.uk/oasis-t-cs)
You will have exclusive use of the reception / seating area for the duration of the booking. You are welcome to enjoy our range of light refreshments and / or bring in your own if you wish. Optionally, we can provide something more substantial via our One77 Bistro (such as light buffets etc)
You are of course welcome to bring in a birthday / celebration cake 😊
